Chapter Text
EXT. PLEASANTVILLE - DAY
We see a picture-perfect suburb in the 50’s in black and white, with TAYLOR DOOSE emerging from a house.
Across the street, GEORGE PARKER leaves for work in his car with a wave, and BETTY PARKER stands on the porch waving goodbye to BUD PARKER and MARY-SUE PARKER.
TAYLOR smiles and waves.
TAYLOR
Hello, Parkers! Good day!
TAYLOR sighs, clearly satisfied, as he walks along the footpath and sees the shops come into sight.
KIRK (V.O.)
Taylor.
TAYLOR glances around, as though looking for a irritating fly.
KIRK (V.O.)
Tay-lor!
CUT TO:
EXT. STARS HOLLOW - DAY
We see TAYLOR, lying on the grass near the gazebo, with KIRK GLEASON waving his cap at TAYLOR. TAYLOR winces, pushing himself up, where PATTY and BABETTE DELL gossip from a corner, LORELAI GILMORE and RORY GILMORE emerge from LUKE’S DINER with coffees, and GYPSY pushes herself out from under a car to frown from afar.
GYPSY
What happened to you?
TAYLOR, glancing at a cricket ball on the ground, turns slightly where the passersby wince to see the purple bruise.
TAYLOR
Kirk. Did you do this?
KIRK
Uh, no.
KIRK pauses, then runs off, the passersby parting, revealing a cricket bat stashed quite obviously in the trash bin.
KIRK tackles into MRS CASSINI who beats him with her bag.
KIRK
It was an accident!
TAYLOR sighs and looks up at the blue cloudless sky, walking along the footpath to pull the cricket bat out of the bin.
TAYLOR
If only life could be pleasant…
