Summary
When Marnie is invited to participate in a tournament between Galar's twelve greatest trainers, she becomes determined to win in order to bring honor and respect to her hometown of Spikemuth. Her determination fuels resentment against Gloria, who became Galar's Champion two years prior. But as much as Marnie wishes she could hate Gloria fully, she also cannot deny that she has developed feelings for her rival.
Meanwhile, Galar comes under attack from a bizarre, otherworldly attack. An evil Pokémon spoken of only in Galarian mythology is threatening to destroy the region. A prophecy states that Gloria, as the trainer of Zacian, is supposed to venture into this Pokémon's realm in a parallel dimension to stop them. As she gets closer to Gloria, Marnie too is roped into this dangerous quest.

A year and a half later, Calem is a rising member of the International Police, specializing in humanitarian conflicts after his experiences with Team Flare. His first mission outside of Kalos is to go to Galar and infiltrate Macro Cosmos, ensuring that the recent situation with Eternatus is properly handled and any other harmful plans are stamped out.
Calem doesn’t expect to stay in Galar long, just keeping to himself and doing some minor investigating, but life always has found ways to turn expectation on its head.
