Summary
Once the second Death Star is complete, there will be no chance for the rebels to bring the Empire down. Both sides want nothing more than for the war to end on their own terms, but for some, war and a life of servitude is the only thing they know. Except for those who also know how meaningless their lives are when pitted against the powers harbored by the Sith and the Jedi. Five such Imperial officers have witnessed the death and torture of their peers at the hands of the Force and wonder if there is a purpose to be served in laying down their lives for an Empire that would not do the same for them, or if maybe the rebels' cause is starting to make more sense.

Summary
Darth Vader survives the events of "Return of the Jedi" and joins the Rebellion, bringing a large portion of the Imperial fleet along with him. Romance develops between a leader of the Alliance and one of Vader's leading officers, but a traitor puts all of the New Alliance at risk. Meanwhile, the Emperor has his own plans for Vader and his children. Darth Vader captures Luke on Bespin with the intent of turning him to the dark side of the Force. He envisions an empire that he would rule alongside his son. While his intentions are not malicious (for a Sith), he would unknowingly bring the golden age of the Sith, but that is another story for another time. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions after all.

The stage is set for rebellion, and both within the Rebel Alliance and outside of it, many fates shall interweave, for the luck of the Disaster Lineage and its associates has ever flowed in a peculiar current. And if that current is stirred, from time to time, by an enterprising Pirate… well, not for nothing has it been said that Fortune rules life.
Aka, Padmé lives. The fractured lineage begins to reunite. Tarkin suffers a raging case of Hondo-induced identity theft. Vader dials the wrong number and ends up connecting to the commlink of a Rebel agent called Revenant. Add in some youngling hijinks, and all of this is slowly building to a massive headache for one Sheev Palpatine.
