Summary
Wei Wuxian felt himself drifting closer to the light, his hand gradually reaching out to touch, presumably, the after life. Though the light, it felt more familiar, more... alive. He sighed, his eyes narrowing and trying to adjust slowly to the brightness.
He vaguely remembered where he was, until he felt a wave of fatigue hit him hard in the head; he went tumbling down onto the floor, his eyes closing shut as the light seemed to brighten. He hadn't meant to be reincarnated, not as a Sect Leader either. He hadn't been willing to see the world once again.
But he had to see him. He needed to see him. He might've been more comfortable walking down the dark path of hell for, perhaps, forever. But he was too far into it now. He had to see him, even if it was once, and the last.

On the morning it starts, Lan Zhan's car breaks down.
He's dressed for work, briefcase at the ready, but something is blinking at him, warning lights going off for the engine and in his brain. Maybe he's starting to panic, thinking too much, wondering about time, and his options. Maybe. Definitely. Whatever it is that's going on, his car won't start, and he can't make it all the way to work on buses alone. It's all the way to the city– that shrouded, bustling city that never sleeps.
And the thing is, Lan Zhan is not well-versed in cars.
He does the only logical thing, brain rattling like teeth in a jar, anxiety sitting on his chest, and calls a taxi for the train station, then boards the first one that will take him in the direction of work.
