John B's father goes missing when he is 14 and in 9th grade. CPS is called and Brooke and Julian Baker (from One Tree Hill) become his foster parents. Shortly after that, an incident with Luke results in JJ being placed in their care as well. The first 40,000 words or so are based on the relationships between Brooke, Julian, John B, and JJ (there will be a lot of angst, bonding and JJ finally getting unconditional love from parental figures). However, Hurricane Agatha and the subsequent treasure hunt still takes place when the Pouges are 16 and play out in a slightly different way because JJ and John B no longer have homes with no supervision. Jiara and Jarah will both be together in ways that are consistent with the canon and will be emphasized although it will take a bit to get there. (Rated Teen and Up for language and abuse consistent with canon).
