When someone grows desperate, they tend to do desperate things. For a boy who's had the world's hatred on his shoulders for simply being born, desperation is a somewhat intimate ally.
Poor execution of plans leads to poor decision making. Which might have been what lead Izuku to make a dead with the devil.
