Adam leans back onto his pillow and closes his eyes, picturing the face he’d been staring at for hours in that bathroom. He’d been sure he was dead. Hell, Lawrence already looked like a fucking ghost before he’d even reached the gun. And once he’d crawled out that door, Adam couldn’t stop picturing Lawrence bleeding out in the hall, everything he’d sacrificed, all for nothing. It made him sick to his stomach.
But Lawrence lives, and now Adam can’t think of anything other than seeing him again.

But neither of those are true- they didn't really catch up, unless 'catching up' involves passive-aggressively blaming each other for potentially mortal injuries. And if he never saw Lawrence again, his life might at least have less annoyance or vague guilt. So instead he just turns around to leave.
"Adam."
Adam stops. Turns around. Lawrence's expression looks as lost as he did on the day they met. His eyebrows are drawn in and wanting. He opens his mouth, then closes it, and nods to him. "I'll be seeing you around."
Adam snorts, turning away.
"Probably not."

The kitchen was warm in the lowlight, the usually more stark lines of it softened by the glow. It had been the main draw of the apartment, when Lawrence had been viewing different places- neither him nor Alison had had much time to cook, with how busy their respective careers had been, but he had wanted to change that. He had changed that. His therapist had been a huge fan of cooking as a hobby for him- had thought that something with a tangible end product would be good for him. He had hated to admit it, but they were right.
He tilted the glass in his hand, pouring wine into it and then smiling to himself when he heard footsteps behind him.
“Fancy seeing you here.”

Sooooo I wanted to try something new
I used the Sawtober 2023 prompts and used a random number generator and I did this three times so now I have three random angsty fanfics of Adam and Vick being traumatized sitting in my notes app
And I decided why not post them?
So here we are now with these short (and I mean SHORT) fics of my two favorite besties
To be clear, you don't really HAVE to have read the first one to read this, but if you haven't read it, you probably won't understand the characters and their decisions and mindsets, so let me give a quick summary for new comers
Vick Watson is my OC that was put into the bathroom trap with Lawrence and Adam. She was Adam's neighbor and Lawrence was the doctor that saved her mother's life. She was put in there because she basically didn't appreciate the efforts others made for her and her task was to protect Adam at all costs. Lawrence ends up shooting Adam anyway, the ending of the movie happens and Adam and Vick end up being let go. In the sequel, Vick and Adam are now roommates.
Okay anyway there's the simple explanation
