He paused, turning away from the black holes that were Eddie's eyes, and trying to think of the most passive way he could say something genuine. Without professing his love, or crying, or both.
Richie settled down into his bed, tucked under the covers as much as he could and he spoke. A quiet tone that honest-to-god felt unfamiliar in his own mouth.
"I…"
There was silence, as he refocused. Just knowing Eddie was expecting something. And Richie was never one to let down Eddie, he hoped he never would be.
"I don't think there's anywhere else I'd wanna be, Eds."
Or Richie tries to get his shit together, so does Eddie, and they both are oblivious as fuck for way too long.

Richie dies saving Eddie, and Eddie is really upset about it. He tries to kill himself because the guilt eats him alive, but oh no, Richie is alive? Eddie is really embarrassed about what happened and he begs the losers to lie to Richie about why he's in the hospital. Some of them are better at lying than others.

The man barks out a laugh. A wave of familiarity washes over Eddie, so strong it makes him sway on his feet. He looks the guy up and down again, trying to place where he knows him from.
“I’m Eddie,” he offers.
The man grabs a box of cereal seemingly at random. Eddie frowns— it looks like pure sugar in a box. He puts on a voice, a passable impression of Perry Mason: “Richard W. Tozier, Esquire. At your service, Eddie Spaghetti.”
I know him, Eddie’s soul is screaming. I know him, I can’t let him go. Not again.

“What is happening, exactly?” Eddie speaks up. So far since they sat down here, his friends have been ogling him like some zoo animal, whispering things to one another. It made him feel self conscious. Richie sat at the couch across from Eddie, and has contributed nothing verbally, and has refused to take his eyes off him. It’s a bit off putting, the way he just stares in silence.
“You’re all scaring me,” Eddie frowns. “This isn’t funny.”
“Eddie,” Ben tries to say, like the name itself is heavy in his mouth. “What do you remember?”
“Like- of Derry?”
“No,” he hesitates. “What’s the last thing you remember?”
Eddie stops to think. He really tries to think about it. It’s like it’s right there, right around the corner, but he just can’t reach it. Not completely.
He looks at Richie, who looks right back at him, with a paranoid look in his eye.
Richie was by his side for… something. He had Richie’s jacket. And when Richie left, he hugged it tighter. He can’t really remember why. What was so important about the jacket?

Somehow life still went on, long after the world had stopped. Well, stopped for Richie. It kept spinning for everyone else, he didn't understand how but it did. He was forty years old feeling like both a toddler after a nightmare and an eighty-something widow. The sun was golden, the sun would probably be setting by the time he started his little walk to Keene's. Bill had offered to go with him, he could only barely see through one lens right now, the other was still dirty.. he couldn't clean them, it was the last part of Eddie he had.. but he needed to be alone, to think, so he turned down the concerned filled offer.
