Summary
History hinges on little things. A proposal averted, a football game that someone was not meant to attend. When Anne and Gilbert begin their junior year, a mishap of Blythe/Shirley proportions threatens to undo everything that the two of them have worked for. The only way to get out of the resulting mess is the same way they got into it- together.

A truly delightful marriage of convenience AU starting partway through Anne of the Island.
Phil cleared her throat then. "Alright. So Gilbert wants you to stay."
Anne shivered. "Yes." She lay her head back on the chair, her grey eyes stormy. "He thinks that we should get married like Professor Daniels suggested." The girls were silent, and she clenched her teeth. "We are halfway through college- neither of us is well off, and he would be shackled to me for all time, for a mistake that I made."
Phil's eyebrows were raised, and she nodded doubtfully. "Ye-eees, although him being shirtless certainly made circumstances a lot more sinister, I think."

Summary
It was not his idea of a good time.
Nikolai had many ideas about good times—ask anyone—but remarkably, none of them involved a dilapidated shack near the Elbjen, the snow coming down faster than you could blink it from your eyelashes, a wind with a mind all its own and grievances to tell, and the dull throb of newly forming bruises.
Even fewer ideas about a good time involved Vasily.

"I didn't even get to say goodbye," Sansa sniffled into his tunic.
"I was going to send her bones to Winterfell," Ned said slowly. "But the men found a weirwood tree near the road, about an hour north of here. They will bury her beneath it, and the old gods will watch over her."Lady is buried beneath a weirwood tree, and Sansa prays to the old gods for Lady to stay with her. “But it’s more than just tonight,” I said. “I’ve been a burden ever since I’ve lost Mal. You and Nikolai and Zoya went through so much worse than me, and yet I’m the one who’s crying and broken while all the rest of you are strong enough to pull through and carry on.”
“Do not go around comparing who’s had it worse,” Genya said, her voice suddenly iron. I lifted my head to look at her. “Some of our scars are more visible than others, but we all survived something that cannot be quantified, that cannot be compared. And just as some scars are more visible, so is some of the healing more visible. But what is above all visible in you, Alina, is strength. Your strength doesn’t come from not being broken, it comes from having what it takes to heal.” -

Summary
“Who are you people?” asks Martha’s husband, moving closer to Martha. “Do I know them?” he says in a stage whisper, smiling and kissing her cheek.
Martha grins, pushing at his chest. “No, you big goof. This is Yaz and Ryan, and Graham,” she says, gesturing at each of them in turn. “This is my husband Mickey, as you probably figured.” Ryan smiles and Yaz waves, subdued. Graham does a small salute with two fingers.
“Nice to meet you all,” says Mickey, lifting the grocery bags awkwardly. “I’d shake your hands, but-”
“Yeah, of course,” says Graham. Martha is smiling still, but it looks strained.
“And of course, Mickey,” she says, trying to look casual and failing utterly, “you already know the Doctor.”

“I’m not trying to scare you,” she says, willing them to see the sincerity in her eyes. “Please believe me. You just have to keep the lesson I learned in mind.”
“What was it?” asks Yaz. Ryan is silent.
“You don’t need the Doctor,” she says. “You can stay with her forever, if you want; if you make it that long. But you need to know that you can leave. You need to know that you’re valuable and special and just as good without her. You can make your own life without someone else, much less an immortal alien who’s terrible with emotions.” -

Ughhh, this is so good! Zoya/Alina is an underrated ship in both book and showverse, and the author executes it beautifully without sanding down Zoya's edges too much or making Alina a pushover. Delightful banter.
(Note: According to a reply in the comments section, this fic happened in an AU where Zoya didn't call Alina a racist slur, and consequently it isn't dealt with within the fic.)

Ahsoka wondered, here and then, if these demonstrations would have been more helpful to her if she had learned the way Anakin himself had, through hours of dedicated sparring; but when Anakin had tugged, gently, one of her lightsabers out of her hand, and flipped it around, and said, try deflecting now, his glove had been soaked in blood. The smears of it on her lightsaber hilt had wet her palms when she’d taken off over the top of the ridge, bouncing blasterbolts away from her with one sword, the other slashing through the droids in front of her.

Quinlan gave in first. “Fine. Ask him for help.”
“But remind him he’s not in charge,” Cody added. Obi-Wan knew that getting Cody to like Hondo was probably a lost cause, but he still hoped. Cody might put up with the Pirate Captain, but that was the extent of it.
Obi-Wan reached for his comm, dialing in the familiar code.
It took only a moment and then Hondo was answering, an exaggerated scowl on his face. “My betrayer!”
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, not bothering to respond to the all too familiar accusation. “How do you feel about stealing something big?”
Hondo looked like he was debating with himself as to whether he wanted to continue being churlish and accusing or whether he wanted to steal things. Thankfully, in this, Hondo was very predictable. “You have drunken too much, my friend, if you have to ask.”

Dryly funny, foreboding, and emotional, with smooth writing and highly enjoyable takes on the characters.
Obi-Wan smiles at him for the first time and Anakin rubs engine grease into his bristling hair. Thereafter, Obi-Wan does not smile at him again, even after Anakin takes him to the wash station and instructs him on getting it out. Obi-Wan doesn't even speak to him outside terse 'Yes, Knight Skywalker' and 'No, Knight Skywalker.'
Anakin can't believe he's been treated like this by a nine year old. He has changed his mind about wanting a padawan. -

Bookmarker's Notes
One of the most realistic "The Darkling Wins" canon divergence bookverse fics I've encountered. The Aleksander/Alina bits are genuinely disturbing while also being oddly sweet in a twisted way; the understated David/Genya moments provide a much-needed counterpoint to Aleksander/Alina; and everything about the Alina and Genya friendship is *chef's kiss*. It's an appropriately depressing story without descending into full grimdarkness, and does an excellent job of maintaining the complexity and tension that are so necessary when writing a fully-dimensional The Darkling | Aleksander as well as his complicated relationship with Alina.
“I didn’t do it to please you,” Genya replied stiffly. “She’s my friend. I’ll always help her.” She paused, and added, “She’ll always have a home with me.”
“She has a home.”

The final time Elia is permitted to leave King's Landing, it is under a veil of grief and suspicion. King Aerys's eyes are hard and cold as he takes leave of her, lending credence to the claim that Varys had to persuade him that she was no threat. That Elia of Dorne is simply a mourning daughter, off to attend her mother's funeral, not a woman capable of toppling a kingdom. -

Summary
The boy draws himself up to his full height, which, even next to Baghra, is laughably insignificant. "I will do something about it," He says, hazel eyes gleaming with a startling fierceness.
Baghra's thoughts wander of their own accord to the memory of another little boy, so different from this one. A solemn, soft-spoken child with wide grey eyes and a shock of dark hair that refuse to lie flat no matter how often she brushed it. So different, but just as determined. Just as hopelessly naïve.
She laughs, and there’s nothing kind in it. "And what are you going to do, sobchaka?"
"I’m going to be king one day," He says, and something about the way he says it gives Baghra pause.

Bookmarker's Notes
I have a weakness for banter and this fic satisfies it nicely. The grudging respect and affection these two characters develop for each other is a treat, as is the glimpse into Baghra's head. Interweaves seamlessly with canon.
Nikolai reaches for Baghra again, grabbing her by the arm this time. He half-pulls, half drags her through the door and down the front walk. “As much as I would love nothing more than to leave you to your lovely, err… hut, I have a promise to keep—ow!” He exclaims as Baghra hits him again, “I am trying to save your life, you charmingly miserable hag.”
“I don’t need saving!” Baghra snaps. “For the last time, take the boy and leave me be.” -

Summary
I began writing Reprise in November 2015, after having a hankering for a good time travel AU and then being unable to find one that fit my niche craving. I wrote chapters 1 through 3 as a casual experiment, a kind of character study of Ben Kenobi.
Five years and about half a million words later, here we are.
The series consists of four main parts:
Reprise I
Reprise II
Reprise III
Reprise IV (WIP)As well as a few supplementary entries:
The Visionary (fanart)
The Pragmatist (fanart)

Bookmarker's Notes
I've been following this series since the early days, so I'm not sure how I never bookmarked it on this site? (I know I've had it favorited on FF.N for ages, along with a lot of the author's earlier fics.)
The series gets increasingly tonally darker as it goes onwards—and the first fic doesn't exactly start out as a fluff piece!—but it has moments of humor, sweetness, and connection to help balance it out. Some really interesting character exploration work, particularly with regards to the differences between canon/original timeline characters and the evolution of their new timeline counterparts. -
