Hotguy was no stranger to the Mycelium Menace. They loved the nature of decay, of coaxing those paradoxical organisms from the earth again and again. It could have been beautiful, if it weren't so disruptive to civilian life, which left Hotguy in charge of cleaning up the mess. They'd gone toe-to-toe so many times that their moves were starting to feel choreographed. Practiced. Scar thought he'd seen everything up their sleeves, until a particularly powerful burst of spores left him seeing stars.

Life had finally found its rhythm. For so long, we had fought tirelessly to protect our world, and for the first time, peace seemed to be more than just a fleeting dream. It felt like a promise. We were just high school students again, savoring the simple joys of everyday life. We laughed, we studied, and we dreamed of futures unburdened by the weight of destiny. We truly believed we had obtained peace... or so we thought.
But peace, it seems, is a delicate thing, easily shattered by the darkness lurking just beyond the horizon. A new evil emerged, a dark force unlike anything we had faced before. It brought chaos and destruction to the heart of our city, attacking innocent civilians without warning. We rushed to defend them, ready to face whatever threat had been unleashed. However, one by one, our energy drained away. Everyone's transformation pens destroyed, and my broach, shattered.
We were left utterly powerless.

Mr. Techno goes over the homework at a steady rate, and Tom is a little… surprised. He got moved up a set in English, meaning this work was harder than what he usually did. But, this teacher made it nice and easy, while not being a bitch about it. Oh.
"See you tomorrow," Mr. Techno says as Tommy gathers his belongings and heads towards the door.
Tommy waves. There's something familiar about this, despite this being their second meeting.
"But, do one more thing for me," Techno says, catching Tom's attention once again, "Watch a couple of news clips about Inniter, and tell me what you think of him tomorrow."
"Will do, sir," Tommy says. Yeah, right.
