Summary

Bowser's troops have informed him that they caught a spy in the Darklands. A spy who happens to bear a heavy resemblance to a certain red and blue clad menace - is even dressed like him, just in different colours. Even has a matching hat.
Bowser has been trying to do better and be better for the sake of his people and his kids, but using captured spies as political bargaining chips is just...how things go. Just a normal part of politics. It's not like he'd actually hurt the man, just leverage his return for something that would help his people do more than just survive.
But then he met Luigi, who revealed that he's blind - and almost certainly not a spy. He says that he and his brother were fixing some pipes when they'd been sucked into something and separated and then he found himself in the Darklands, being apprehended by Bowser's troopas not long after.
Which was concerning, because Mario showed up eight years ago.
And, very unexpectedly, Bowser finds himself drawn to this new human and wants to get to know him better.
