He is a master airbender, and Ty Lee has the same backstory, except she has known she was the avatar for a while and just hid it from everyone she knew including her parents.

In this story Mickey never breaks out of prison, instead Terry uses his contacts to "fix" Mickey using the basement of the prison to torture him using conversion therapy which went way too far and Mickey is saved by guards. Being that it happened by prison staff, he is released into the care of his sister, and let go free, his sentenced dropped as the government cant exactly keep him after they tortured him. It went on long enough that Mickey has holes in his memory of anything to do with being gay so that means he doesn't remember his time with Ian. Mandy goes to Ian for comfort and help because she cant deal with it all on her own and Ian wants to help bring Mickey back because he never stopped loving him.
Mickey is undergoing therapy and fights it, thinking he's supposed to be just like his dad. Slowly he comes back. -
