The Baron and his daughter arrive in Beetleburg to confront the Tyrant about a hidden hive engine.
Agatha and Zeetha find solace the shared understanding of how it feels when you can't quite keep up.
And Zeetha won't hesitate to argue with her father about his assumptions. It's much easier to weather disapproval when you're already a disappointment.A very brief look at what happens when you have to play a part that wasn't written for you, trapped in a narrative that belongs to someone else.

A prequel to 'Helpful, in a Heterodyne Sort of Way'!
Everyone knows Agatha Sannikova can't be a Heterodyne, even if she did arrive mysteriously one night to live with Lady Teodora and Lord Saturnus. She's got those headaches, and she's not too bright - she's not even a Spark! Besides, Lady Teodora says she isn't; Agatha's just her ward. Lady Teodora is an honest woman, everyone knows that.
She does get along quite well with Lord Saturnus, which is a bit odd, but we're all just glad he's doing better - she's had a very good affect on his health. He's even talking again! Lady Teodora doesn't like the kind of, er, "life lessons" he's tried to teach her, but Agatha hasn't set anyone on fire or unleashed any terrifying monstrosities on the town.
And that's another reason we know she's no Heterodyne. If she was, chaos would follow in her wake, intentionally or not. And she's very normal. Boring even.
...what do you mean, tempting fate?

A connection to the world of Girl Genius sends Joe from Brockton Bay to Europa before the events of the Agatha Heterodyne and The Beetleburg Clank. Joe struggles to adjust to the new landscape while still managing his rapidly growing power.
A side story written to celebrate 3 years of Brockton's Celestial Forge. Updates will be infrequent compared to the main story, but I'm looking forward to expanding on this work when I can spare the time. -

Crossposted, unsurprisingly. Feedback is much appreciated, as long as it's constructive.
Most of these will involve Marvel/the MCU, DC, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm a sucker for canon divergence, both reading and creating, especially when the train actually goes off the rails; it can be easy to get into the habit of 'this is how X event would have looked with the changes I introduced earlier' even when those changes really mean that X event shouldn't have happened at all, and the story ends up being a rehash of canon with a couple of extra flairs rather than an exploration of the core idea. Self-insertion can make that very easy, along with Peggy Sues. In the same vein, introducing a character or group from one setting into another almost always creates an outside-context problem with potentially fascinating results, and many abilities can do the same when transplanted into a new or existing character.
