Summary
Anita Blake is in crisis. A close call during a murder investigation shakes her to her core and brings her face to face with her choices. She doesn't like what she sees. She's ready to give up on crime-busting for good. Unfortunately, it's not done with her.
A rash of mysterious therian disappearances and deaths raises eyebrows at the Regional Preternatural Investigation Taskforce and pits animal groups against each other in a desperate struggle for survival. Anita has to find the culprit quickly before territorial disputes can devolve into an all-out war.
And as if that isn't bad enough, a new wereleopard has arrived in Saint Louis intent on challenging Anita for control of the local pard. Micah Callahan is as alluring as he is dangerous and it will take every ounce of political savvy Anita has to keep her people out of the hands of an interloper with nefarious plans.
