It was done.
I thought it was done, at least. I hated him. As I stared into his green eyes I knew I hated him. There was something about the deadpan look, the way his pupils stared through my body. I'd never felt such hatred, it was something deep inside my soul I couldn't describe. A gut feeling of utter despise toward someone I had no reason to. I didn't understand it nor wanted to, all I felt was a sense of urgency to destroy the man standing in front of me. His brown hair was musty and unkempt, his jacket had holes and his stubble was disgusting. He was vermin on the earth, something that needed to be discarded.
"I said all I've needed to say. You get the message, right?"
His voice was clear and calculating. His tone was uncaring and cold. I could tell just by the way he spoke he was a different man than the one I once knew. I approached him, keeping eye contact without falter.
"I could kill you, Eren Yeager."

Xavier wheezed out, his hoarse voice rang clear all the way to the quiet stands of miis watching with bated breath. Everyone burst into cheers, even the critics who'd jeered and booed them till the very end. Tears pricked the corner of his eyes more times than he could count in this tournament, but these, quite rarely for him, were tears of unbridled joy. Through the sobs that wracked his body to his very core, a hand landed firmly on his shoulder. "You did good," said Engineroom, voice brimming with exhaustion and pride, "all of you. How about we celebrate?"
