“I mean,” says Crowley, wrinkling his nose, “don’t I? Come on, don’t tell me you’re not curious. We can only ever see it from a distance, and there’s already so much there. Just… makes you wonder, doesn’t it? How much more there is inland? And yeah, I probably won’t ever be able to see that, but… could see more. Could talk to one of them. I just - I don’t really see what’s so wrong about that.”

Aziraphale was the heir to the throne, a prince. He had everything but was always limited to the confines of the palace. When his desire to travel the world was finally realized, he couldn't have been happier. But his dreams ended abruptly when his crew mutinied and attempted to kill him at sea. When he wakes up he finds himself in the care of a beautiful stranger.
But the man isn't exactly what he seems. The closer they grow the more Aziraphale finds himself torn between this beautiful man and his own home.

'The overtones of Crowley's voice drip with venom, slithering up the sides of the ship and searching for that which it can constrict and devour. His temptation wraps itself tightly around the sailors above, poisoning their minds, promising them what they most desire. The call beckons them into the dark water, whispering that all of their dreams will come true if they only let go and follow him into the deep.'
Crowley is a deep-sea, cold-blooded predator with a curious nature and hidden soft streak. Aziraphale is a human prince, soft and smart with a sharp wit and stubborn disposition. One day, shortly after Aziraphale survives an impossible shipwreck, a very human-looking man with long red curls washes up on the beach, unconscious, naked, bleeding, unable to speak, and snapping like a wild animal.
It's a Little Mermaid AU, but it's not your typical fairytale.
Come on, get in the water.

Crowley stared at him, yellow eyes narrowing. “You’ll have to excuse me for not trusting you. Never encountered your kind before. I suggest you get out of here because this much blood in the water is going to attract sharks.”
He twisted around, attempting once again to try to dive into the depths, but without his tail free that was proving impossible. He struggled even harder upon seeing his so-called rescuer pull a knife out of his belt.
“Not without you,” the land-dweller replied. “Hold still, please. These nets are meant to dig into skin the more one moves.”
“If you're going to kill me, please make it quick. Long, painful discorporations seem like a bad way to go.”
Prince Crowley is investigating the damage fishing vessels are doing to crops and homes in his father's underwater kingdom. Prince Aziraphale is supposed to be learning to become a scribe. Their worlds are about to collide, putting Crowley's life in danger and revealing that the land-dwelling angels and ocean-dwelling merdemons just might not be that different after all.
(Rated T until Chapter 11 when it becomes more NSFW.)

While sunning himself after hunting prey, Crowley finds something that looks like a human contraption, a compas, but wrapped in what can only be the tentacle of a jelly. A very large jelly at that. Perhaps even another type of merfolk?
Intrigued, he decides to return the compass to its owner or at least try, given the depths of the ocean.
When he does meet the owner, he's rather overwhelmed, in more ways than one. -

On his way home, Crowley comes to a decision. It was inevitable, really; one might even call it ineffable.
Fell obviously needs looking after, and none of the other humans seem to be up to the job.
That means Crowley will have to do it.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” he calls up to Bentley.
‘I guarantee you I’m not.’
“It’s time to make a deal with a witch,” Crowley declares, and dives under the water, leaving the duck to stare after him in horrified confusion.
