In 1924, 7-year-old Bucky met 6-year-old Steve. Very young to meet one's spouse, but meet they did. Their parents figured out they'd end up married by the time Steve was 14. Which they did, when Bucky was 18 and Steve was 16. Then in 1942, Bucky got drafted, and in 1943 Steve enlisted. I'll leave a few things to the imagination.
Steve didn’t move. Bucky didn’t either. “What does this mean?” Steve whispered. “Huh?” Bucky said. “You kissed me,” Steve added, still quiet. “What – what does that mean?” Bucky looked over Steve’s face and lifted his hand and pressed his palm against Steve’s cheek, then grabbed the back of his neck and squeezed. Steve almost went limp, catching himself with his hands on Bucky’s chest. “I been pinnin’ you since you was six,” Bucky murmured. “The fuck you think it means, jackass?” -

When Steve crashed Red Skull's plane into the Arctic Mina was with him, both of them lost to the world.
Woken up nearly seventy years later the two friends lean on one another to help them through the change. Then the impossible happened, and they learned that Bucky was alive, and not only that, but he is being controlled by the same organization they thought they had destroyed. Can the two of them rescue their friend or are they simply out of time?

That is why she participates in risky, life-threatening professions, such as being a field agent for the SSR, and being a Special Operations Executive during WW2. That's where she met 2 men that changed her life. James Buchanan Barnes, and, undoubtedly, Steven Grant Rogers.
